Meadowbrook, PA—Holy Redeemer Child Care Center has earned a STAR 4 rating from the Keystone STARS early learning quality initiative. Keystone STARS is a continuous quality improvement learning initiative for early learning programs, with more than 4300 child care programs participating statewide. STAR 4 rating is the highest level awarded, and is based upon nationally recognized standards for staff education and professional development, early learning environment, partnerships with family and community, and leadership and management.

The Holy Redeemer Child Care Center provides care for children ages six weeks through 5 years old, and is open to the public as well as to Holy Redeemer Health System employees. The Center is located behind Holy Redeemer Hospital and Medical Center at 1648 Huntingdon Pike, Meadowbrook. “Reaching this highest STAR rating provides us with access to additional resources from the state,” said Margot Adams, director of the Child Care Center. “This has been a terrific benefit to us. Our teachers have attended numerous workshops and trainings to gain knowledge and helpful ideas to use in the classroom.  Computers were also purchased for teacher usage to record child assessments. We also purchased additional supplies, learning toys and manipulatives, all at no expense to parents.”

“We are pleased to have another center of excellence at Holy Redeemer,” said Joseph Cassidy, vice president of human resources. “Both our employees and the community benefit from the Child Care Center’s quality efforts.”

Child care centers enroll in the STARS program voluntarily and progress from STAR 1 to STAR 4 ratings as they improve quality of care and education. Keystone STARS is part of the Early Learning Keys to Quality Initiative, which was developed by the Office of Child Development and Early Learning to ensure all Pennsylvania families have access to high-quality early childhood education that foster children’s success in school and life.

“This is the culmination of a journey that has taken a number of years and serves as recognition of our staff and their efforts to continually improve the quality of early childhood education provided at Holy Redeemer Child Care Center,” said Cassidy.
