Meadowbrook, PA—September 10, 2013—Holy Redeemer Health System has named Henry (Hank) Unger, MD, FACEP, Vice President and Medical Director for HealthCare Delivery. In that role, he is responsible for overall medical administration of Holy Redeemer Hospital and Holy Redeemer Physician and Ambulatory Services.
“Dr. Unger has been a valuable part of Holy Redeemer for nearly two decades,” said Cass Egan, Chief Administrative Officer, Holy Redeemer Hospital, “and we are looking forward to working with him in his new capacity.” Dr. Unger will continue to serve as the Chair of the Department of Emergency Medicine at Holy Redeemer.
“It is vital that medical staffs and hospitals work closely together to provide safe, high quality medical care both in the hospital environment as well as other non- traditional settings including patient homes and life care communities. I’m looking forward to working closely with the excellent, dedicated medical staff of Holy Redeemer Hospital.”
Unger is a diplomate of the American Board of Emergency Medicine, and a member of American College of Emergency Physicians. He is a past president of the Pennsylvania Chapter of the American College of Emergency Physicians and is interested in leadership and political advocacy within his field.
A graduate of Tulane University School of Medicine and the University of Connecticut, Unger’s interest in education extends to teaching roles: he is an adjunct professor at Arcadia University where he teaches in a masters level physician assistant training program and precepts emergency medicine residents from the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania who rotate at Holy Redeemer Hospital. Unger also serves as an oral board examiner for the American Board of Emergency Medicine and as a “note reviewer” for the National Board of Medical Examiners.
