|Meadowbrook, PA—August 19, 2013—Holy Redeemer Health System welcomes Amanda Woodworth, MD, breast surgeon, to its Breast Health Program. Dr. Woodworth joins well-known surgeons Beth DuPree, MD, FACS, ABIHM; Stacy Krisher, MD, FACS; and Catherine Carruthers, MD, FACS as part of Comprehensive Breast Care Surgeons. Dr. Woodworth has offices in Southampton, Bensalem, and Langhorne.
Holy Redeemer Comprehensive Breast Health Surgeons is a unique practice in that it is led by four female Board-certified surgeons who limit their practice to treating patients with diseases of the breast.
The Breast Health Program incorporates holistic, complementary treatment options in addition to state-of-the-art clinical and surgical care. For instance, Holy Redeemer Breast Health Program patients are encouraged and supported in participating in fitness programs, meditation, therapy, massage, healthy eating and support groups, all offered on site and led by Holy Redeemer-affiliated therapists and instructors. The objective is to treat the whole person, not only the disease the patient is fighting; to heal rather than to merely cure, to thrive rather than merely survive.
Dr. Woodworth recently completed a prestigious fellowship in breast surgery at University of Southern California’s Keck School of Medicine, studying under Dr. Melvin Silverstein, renowned for innovations in breast cancer surgery. There, she learned about the treatment of breast cancer, Ductal Carcinoma In Situ (DCIS), in depth oncoplastic techniques, and the use of Intraoperative Radiation Therapy.
Prior to her fellowship, Dr. Woodworth completed her surgical residency at Albert Einstein Medical Center in Philadelphia including serving as chief resident. She earned her medical degree from Albany Medical College in New York State and is Board Certified in Surgery.
After a year at USC, Dr. Woodworth has returned to the Philadelphia region, drawn by the holistic philosophy of care of Holy Redeemer’s Breast Health Program. She is a partner in Holy Redeemer’s Comprehensive Breast Care Surgeons.
Dr. Woodworth is an invited lecturer on breast cancer, and often speaks at community forums. She’s written or reviewed various academic articles related to her field.
