Holy Redeemer’s Dr. DuPree a Philadelphia Magazine Health Hero Semi-Finalist
Posted Date: 9/6/2012
Meadowbrook, PA—September 6, 2012— Holy Redeemer is pleased to announce that breast surgeon Beth Baughman DuPree, MD, has been selected as one of 16 semi-finalists in Philadelphia magazine’s first annual Health Hero Challenge, a search for “local champions of health and wellness who are inspiring and helping the residents of their community to make changes in their lives to ensure a healthier future.”
Dr. DuPree was nominated for her work as a breast surgeon and Medical Director of Holy Redeemer's Breast Health Program, where she diagnoses and treats women and men with breast cancer, and works to help her patients become thrivers—not just survivors. According to Dr. DuPree, “We can eliminate the disease, but there’s a lot more work to do to truly heal—to move beyond surviving to thriving.” She also advocates breast cancer prevention through healthy lifestyle choices, and founded the Healing Consciousness Foundation, a charity that provides funding for healthy cooking programs, fitness classes including yoga and Zumba, and complementary therapies that her patients can participate in before, during, and after treatment.
The first of four rounds of voting in the Challenge began on September 4th, and the winner from each round will advance to the finals in October. Dr. DuPree will be among round three’s contestants—voting for which runs from September 18th to September 24th. Voters can submit their pick once each day by visiting holyredeemer.com/healthhero, beginning on September 18th.
The winner of the Health Hero Challenge will be announced on November 7th, and will receive $2,500 for their favorite charity. Dr. DuPree has selected the Healing Consciousness Foundation.
