| Palliative Care services aim to provide comfort and improve quality of life at any time during the course of a serious or advanced illness, often at the same time as curative or life prolonging treatments. Our Palliative Care team consists of specially-trained nurses, social workers, chaplains, therapists (physical, occupational and speech) and home health aides who work collaboratively to provide patients with physical, emotional and spiritual comfort. The support and education provided by the team also provides much needed benefits for family members and caregivers and assists the patient and family to better understand and cope with the illness, and in making choices for care. |

Patients with serious illnesses can find relief of symptoms such as pain, shortness of breath, nausea or vomiting, constipation, fatigue, loss of appetite, anxiety or depression. Palliative care is often provided, but not limited, to patients with the following diagnoses:
