The Health Insurance Portability & Accountability Act (HIPAA) regulations, which became effective April 14, 2003, govern the use and release of patient information and give our patients more control over their health information.
Unless patients direct us otherwise, we may include name, room number, general one-word condition, and religious affiliation in our patient directory. Directory information may be released to people who call or visit and ask for the patient by name. This allows family, friends and clergy to visit and find out general status. Holy Redeemer assures that, as much as possible, we will limit both the amount of information that is shared and the number of people with whom it is shared.
If you have any questions, comments or concerns regarding Holy Redeemer's adherence to the HIPAA privacy regulations, please contact Holy Redeemer's Privacy Officer at 215-856-1148. |
