Suggestions for your hospital stay:
For Mom
- Suitcase suggestions
- 2-3 nightgowns, nursing or regular, preferably cotton
- 2-3 bras
- Slippers
- Robe
- 3-4 pairs cotton panties
- Toiletries (soap, shampoo, deodorant, etc)
- Makeup
- *Hairdryer
- Notepad and pen
- Birth announcements/address book
- Snacks (ex: dried fruit, packaged cheese/peanut butter crackers, granola bars)
- Going home outfit - loose, comfortable outfit
*Note: Hospital provides sanitary pads. Hairdryer is in each bathroom.
- Goodie bag (used during labor)
- Reading material or other items to help pass the time
- Eyeglasses/contact lenses, case, saline/cleaning solution
- Chapstick or lip gloss
- Sour lollipops
- Mouthwash/spray
- Toothpaste/soft bristle toothbrush
- Hairbrush/ribbons or hair ties for long hair
- Tennis ball covered with cotton sock
- Rolling pin or massage device
- Body lotion and/or powder
- Rice sock (Put 3 lbs. regular rice in long cotton athletic sock and stitch end closed. May heat in microwave for 3 minutes for warmth or place in freezer for cold application.)
- Warm socks
- Item for focal point (ex: photo, small item from baby’s room)
- CD/Tape/MP3 player (battery operated) with peaceful music
- 1-2 of your own bed pillows in colored/patterned pillowcases
- Baby Book for footprints
For Baby
- Suitcase suggestions
- *Going home attire (undershirt, comfortable outfit, socks/booties, sweater & cap or bunting, receiving blanket, heavier blanket for cold weather)
*Note: Hospital supplies disposable diapers. During the hospital stay we will provide everything the baby needs (undershirts, receiving blankets, diapers & wipes, etc.) in the drawer of the crib; however, hospital shirts and blankets must stay here when baby leaves.
